The TUM Sustainability Design Competition invites all students, staff and alumni to share their vision of sustainability through design. Create a design that reflects TUM’s path toward a more sustainable future. Show us your creativity and perspective. Join the challenge and bring sustainability at TUM to life!
About the competition
Sustainability at TUM is more than a strategy — it’s a shared commitment.
With this competition, the TUM Community is invited to creatively explore and express what sustainability means for the university today and in the future. The initiative is connected to the TUM Sustainable Futures Strategy 2030 which aims to embed sustainability on a university-wide scope across the entire university.
Your design can help make this goal visible and inspire others across the TUM Community. The winning design will become part of the TUM Sustainability Line, which will be available in the TUMshop.

Your design should visually communicate sustainability at TUM, reflect the spirit of a community working together toward a more responsible future, and interpret our slogan in various ways:

Who can Participate
The competition is open to the entire TUM Community:
- Students
- Employees
- Alumni
Whether you have a design background or simply a strong idea, everyone is encouraged to participate—regardless of experience or discipline.
Winners & Prize
The final winner will be chosen through a public vote in July 2026.
The winner will receive a TUM Shop voucher and a product featuring their design.
Design Guidelines
To participate, please prepare your design according to the following requirements:
- Accepted file formats: AI, EPS, SVG, PDF, JPG (preferably vectorized files)
- High resolution (min. 300 dpi)
- No use of the Technical University of Munich (TUM) logo
- No AI-generated content
- Designs must be original
- Designs must not infringe any third-party rights (e.g., images, fonts, trademarks)
- Design should relate to the theme of sustainability at TUM
- Design must be suitable for production (e.g., applicable to merchandise)
